Maintenance Tip #3
Over the past few weeks we have received some support calls that all revolved around a single theme; I am getting errors when transferring data from my Ergomo CPU to my PC. What shoud I do?
We would like to share our response to these users in case anyone else is having a similar issue.
I am getting errors when trying to transfer data from my Ergomo CPU to my PC. What should I do?
Note: Because of the granularity of the date/time function, TrainingPeaks software cannot handle more than 20 days of data at once when downloading to Device Agent / WKO+ from your device. Download often and clear your device memory from the software (not just from the device itself) on a regular basis!
If you are experiencing download failures you need to change the recording interval to 5 seconds. If you choose to record at 2 second intervals, be sure to download your ride data after each ride.
Changing the recording interval on the Ergomo CPU:
- Wake up the Ergomo CPU by pressing any button
- Press and hold the bottom button to access the CPU Settings
- You can scroll through the options using the bottom button and you can select options by pressing the top button
- Select "SETS" and on the next screen select "DATA RECORDING"
- Scroll down and select "5" by pressing the top button
- Exit the "SETS" screen by scrolling and choosing "X" with the top button
Next, the data that is on the Ergomo CPU must be deleted so that new data with the correct interval settings can be recorded.
For ergoRacer Software Users:
- Plug in your Ergomo CPU with the USB / Serial Port Adapter Cable
- Wake up the Ergomo CPU by pressing any button
- Choose the "DELETE TRIP" icon on the left side of the screen
Note: Be sure to transfer your data with the "Data to PC" button.
For TrainingPeaks Software Users:
- Plug in your Ergomo CPU with the USB / Serial Port Adapter Cable
- Wake up the Ergomo CPU by pressing any button
- Use WKO+ to configure your device. Do not change settings on the Ergomo CPU prior to downloading your data
- After downloading to WKO+, save the file
- Click the "Clear Device" button in the download box
Be sure to do this every time you download your ride data. Just using the "Reset Trip" function does not CLEAR the Ergomo CPU. This has to be done through the software.
Important Notes:
- Make sure to "Clear History" after downloading as this will make subsequent downloads go much faster and remove any hidden data issues.
- If downloading fails, you must "Clear History". You will lose your data. However, this is the only way to get rid of errors in the recorded data that are causing the download failure.
- Always "Clear History" before changing any settings. If you forget, then "Clear History" after you change settings but, make sure you clear the history before your next ride. Otherwise, the changed settings will not apply to that ride.
