Data Transfer via USB
We've had a lot of questions come in regarding how to connect the Ergomo CPU to a PC and transfer training data. Since this question is coming up a lot, we are going to address it in full.
Currently, transferring ride data from the Ergomo Computer to a PC is done via the Ergomo Serial Data Transfer Cable which uses the PC's serial port. For most users, this won't work due to the fact that most PC's are no longer built with a serial port. To address this issue, we use a USB Adapter cable to convert the serial plug to USB. The adapter is available in our products section for $29.85 or you can pick one up at your preferred electronics retailer. Once you have the USB Adapter, there are a few steps required to configure the Ergomo CPU to connect to your PC:
- Start by downloading the USB Adapter Driver from our website (if purchased from another source, the adapter should come with a driver install disk. Install the driver with their instructions and skip to step 5)
- Unzip the driver file (Ergomo_9720_Driver_v1_30_RS232_PL2303_COM_Port.zip) and save it to your desktop
- Open the driver folder
- Double-click the "setup.exe" file. Follow the install instructions
- Connect the USB Adapter to the Ergomo Serial Data Transfer Cable
- Ensure that the Ergomo CPU is on and connect it to your PC
- Open the ergoRacer Software
- In the top options, click the "Data to PC" button
This will attempt to transfer the training data on the Ergomo CPU to your PC. If, for some reason, you get an error message, try the following options:
- Ensure that the Ergomo Computer is not in sleep mode - Click either button on the CPU to wake up, click "Break" on the bottom right of the ergoRacer screen and repeat step 8
- Ensure that the Ergomo Computer is connected to the correct USB port - By default, the Ergomo CPU is looking for the PC's COM3 port. Connect the PC to a different USB port and repeat step 8
You will know that everything is set up properly when you are prompted with a list of your stored ride data or an empty list if you don't have any data on the Ergomo CPU.
We are currently working on developing a single cable to handle data transfer via USB. Join our Mailing List and we will inform you when it is available.
